At the Pahrump Social Powwow, public participation is appreciated.
Originally, the Powwow was a gathering of the tribes encouraging peace and prosperity. But as the Powwow has increased in popularity and taken hold in the public conscience, the dances too have evolved and grown in relevance as a part of the spectacle.
At Pahrump’s Social Powwow, you’ll see many dance styles: Fancy Shawl, Grass (Prairie Grass), Jingle Dress, Women’s traditional, Men’s traditional, Men’s Chicken Traditional (Prairie Hen), Hoop, Gourd and Aztec as dancers twirl and whirl and fly by competing for prizes and awards:
